Two spacious homes in a recently restored 18th century chateau/country house
The 18th century house has been beautifully restored using ecological materials and traditional building methods.
Rich carpets and antique furniture from the area impart a unique authentic atmosphere, combining its ancient charm with the comfort of modern conveniences.
The gites are in spacious grounds with garden furniture and barbeques.
The gite Laurier has a walled garden convenient for holiday makers with young children.
A large swimming pool in a beautiful serene and secluded part of the grounds is available for both gites.
Each gite has a fully equipped modern kitchen with stove, range hood, electric and microwave ovens, dishwasher, refrigerator / freezer, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans dishes, tableware etc. and a washing machine.
The dining rooms have solid wood traditional "tables de campagnes", and they both have functional log fireplaces in the dining and the living rooms.
The living rooms are furnished and decorated in a style both comfortable and authentic, with armchairs, sofas, side tables, lamps and carpets, cable TV and disc players.
The gite LAURIER has a wine cellar. It has three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite) and an extra toilet. Each bedroom has one double and one single bed. It can easily accommodate up to 9 people.
The gite GLYCINE has five bedrooms. Three of the four upstairs bedrooms and the downstairs bedroom all have en suite bathrooms.
Upstairs, two rooms have twin single beds, one room has a double bed, and another has a double and a single bed.
The downstairs room has a single bed and may accommodate a disabled person. The gite can comfortably sleep up to 10 people.
The house is conveniently situated in the Dordogne Valley at the outskirts of the ancient villages of Cenac and Dome and within easy driving distance from some of the most magnificent sites, which this part of France has to offer.
You will be surrounded by medieval castles and villages (often proclaimed to be "One of the Most Beautiful villages in France"), splendid landscapes, and country tracks for walking, biking, and horse-riding.
The nearby Dordogne River and its tributaries offer fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. Golf courses, tennis courts, hot air ballooning and other sporting facilities are readily available nearby.
The renowned medieval town of Sarlat with its bustling Saturday market, summer festivals, antique fairs, street artists, and a wide variety of restaurants is 10 minutes drive from the house.
The Vezere River valley with many prehistoric sites, the Lascaux Caves, the Roque St Christophe, and the French National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies is at 15 minutes drive from the house.
Further afield, the famous vineyards of Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cahors, the villages of Martel and Rocamadour, the Gouffre de Padirac, Grotte du Peche Merle and other sites can all be visited on a day trip.
Whether you are looking for relaxation, an authentic "cadre de vie", good food and wine or for a base for touring both medieval and prehistoric sites, you could not choose a better home for your vacation.
